On 29 July 2008, the NOIP organized honourly the 26^th Anniversary of the NOIP and the Reception of the Competitive Banner of the Government. H.E. Vice Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Thang and H.E. Vice Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan attended the ceremony. Besides, the ceremony was also participated by leaders of units and agencies of Ministry of Science and Technology, leaders of different tenures of the NOIP and all of NOIP’s staff. The NOIP also welcomed its Japanese distinguished guests, who were working at the NOIP within the framework of the project “Utilization of IP information in Viet Nam” to attend the ceremony.

During his opening speech, DG Tran Viet Hung made a look back to the glorious history of the NOIP over the past 26 years of consecutive development and its cement to the growth of the economy and science and technology of the country. Being the National Office of Industrial Property in the socialism-oriented market economy in 1993 and the National Office of Intellectual Property in the deep and wide international integration of Viet Nam in 2003, the NOIP has made considerable contribution to the socio-economic and science and technology development of the country, particularly in its accession to the World Trade Organization WTO and Viet Nam’s rapid international integration. In 2007, on the occasion of the 25^th anniversary of the NOIP, the NOIP had the honor to be presented with the Second Labor Medal by the State for its brilliant achievements during its development and growth. A year after that, the NOIP gained new successes in various aspects, especially the continuous improvement of the legal framework on IP, strong compliance with international commitments as well as extension of international relations, improvement of application handling capacity, upgrading public awareness about IP, strengthening IPRs enforcement, promotion of cooperation with localities as an important element of the IP system and other areas. As a result, the NOIP had the honor to receive the Competitive Banner of the Government on the day. Taking this opportunity, DG Tran Viet Hung sent his sincere thanks for the regular attention and leading of the Government, particularly the timely and close management of the Party’s Professional Board and Leadership of Ministry of Science and Technology  and the support and cooperation of relevant agencies. He also thanked the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Viet Nam, Vietnam Intellectual Property Association, Intellectual Property Research Institute and other relevant agencies for their collaboration. The NOIP was always grateful to generations of leaders of the NOIP, officials who had been retired or ever worked for the NOIP for their contribution to the ground of the current IP house. The thanks also went to experts from Japan and Switzerland for their long term and enthusiasm assistance for the development of automation, training, capacity building and other IP activities of Viet Nam. On the very significant day, DG Tran Viet Hung sent the best wishes to all of 300 staff of the NOIP and its representative branches in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.  

After that, Mr. Tran Viet Thanh, General Director of Administration and General Affairs published Decision on the Presence of Competitive Banner to the NOIP in 2007 of the Government.

H.E. Mr. Nguyen Quan, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party’s Committee of Ministry of Science and Technology honorly awarded the Competitive Banner of the Government to the NOIP. NOIP’s DG had the honor to receive the Banner on behalf of the NOIP.

On behalf of the leadership of Ministry of Science and Technology, speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Quan, Vice Minister of Science and Technology highly appreciated achievements of the NOIP during the past 26 years and was confident about the continuous development of the NOIP in the upcoming years. The leadership of Ministry of Science and Technology always highly appreciated important contribution of NOIP to working areas of the Ministry as well as to the development of science and technology activities of the country, especially the NOIP’s contribution to the establishment and promulgation of the Intellectual Property Law, one of six laws hosted and submitted to the National Assembly for approval by Ministry of Science and Technology over the last 04 years.
